About The Mermaid Project
London's Mermaid Tavern was the gathering place of the Friday Street Club, founded by Sir Walter Raleigh in 1603 and populated by some of the brightest literary lights of the Elizabethan Era -- Ben Jonson, John Donne, Richard Carew and, allegedly, William Shakespeare among them.

So, what's this got to do with me??

Some time ago, I settled on The Mermaid Tavern as a metaphor for the wildly disparate images and ideas jostling for position in the all-engaging mental process of writing songs for an album. ("Possessed By The Ghosts of Soccer Hooligans Past" would have been an equally truthful metaphor, and probably more apt, but I just can't see Shakespeare in a football jersey. Or can I?)

So many songs already written! -- you can hear the demos on my website (www.cantydame.com) and on my various social networking pages -- but shepherding the recording to completion is going to require your help.

Here is where you come in!

Join the roster of Julia's Angels! Donate whatever you can. Every dollar counts. Help me make this dream come true, amigos -- you'll hear my gratitude in my music. There will be a Halloween celebration, and you're invited!

Stay tuned -- more to come!

Love,

Julia
